Preamble

The JeBenevole.ca website is owned and operated by the Fédération des centres d’action bénévole du Québec (the Québec federation of volunteer centres, here referred to as “the FCABQ”). JeBenevole.ca is the provincial platform for pairing volunteers with volunteer centres and non-profit organizations. We present searchable, filterable volunteering opportunities to connect individuals and organizations, and fill volunteering needs. These terms of use constitute an agreement between JeBenevole.ca and all platform users or visitors.

By using the platform where these terms of use are posted, you confirm that you agree to be bound by the terms of use and our privacy policy.

We may change, revise or update these terms of use at any time by modifying this page. Your use of the platform following such a change or revision constitutes your agreement to be bound by the terms of use as changed or revised.

User’s rules of conduct

As a platform user, you are liable for any information that you publish on JeBenevole.ca, as well as for the manner in which you use the platform. Publications include all content contributed, posted or displayed by you or other users on the platform. As a general practice, JeBenevole.ca does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, thoroughness or authenticity of the information displayed on the platform by other users.

JeBenevole.ca expressly prohibits engagement in any cybercriminal act, including but not limited to breaches of privacy, integrity and availability with respect to platform access, content, data and computer systems.

You agree to abstain from seeking unauthorized access to the platform and unauthorized collection of any data that is stored on JeBenevole.ca, our servers or associated computers, through any means not intentionally made available to you through the platform.

In addition, you agree to observe all applicable laws and regulations in force prohibiting you from making any comments or depictions that:

• Are racist, xenophobic, antisemitic, homophobic or sexist;
• Infringe upon a person’s right to privacy, and, more generally, violate anyone’s human rights;
• Are of such a nature as to undermine someone’s human dignity;
• Are of such a nature as to incite violence, suicide, terrorism or the use, manufacture or distribution of unlawful substances;
• Promote or are likely to incite crimes or offenses;
• Are deemed to entail the publication of deliberately fraudulent, false or misleading content;
• Are deemed to entail the publication of content promoting for-profit services.

If a user breaches any of the aforementioned rules, JeBenevole.ca reserves the right to block the infringing user’s access to platform services, in whole or in part, temporarily or definitively, without liability and without need to give notice to the user.

JeBenevole.ca also reserves the right to remove, in whole or in part, content, information and data of any kind, which the user has placed online on the platform.

Responsibilities regarding minors

In the event that you give permission to a minor to use the platform, you acknowledge that you are fully responsible for:

a) The online conduct of that minor;
b) Access by the minor to the platform, and the manner in which the minor uses it;
c) Consequences of improper use of the platform by the minor.

Restrictions on access

The FCABQ reserves the right to refuse or terminate access, without prior notice, to any user who may have breached the Terms of Use, or engages in conduct that is illegal, tortious or that interferes with the purpose of the platform. Upon termination, you must destroy all materials obtained from JeBenevole.ca and are no longer authorized to access the platform. JeBenevole.ca shall not be held liable or otherwise responsible to any third party for damages that may result from such termination.

Use of the user account

To take full advantage of the activities offered by JeBenevole.ca, you must provide your full name, your birth date and your gender. You must also supply an e-mail address and a password for the purpose of creating a user account. Upon creation of your account, you may be asked to provide additional, optional information.

It is your sole responsibility to keep your username and password secret and non-accessible. If that information is lost or stolen, or if you suspect that a third party has gained access to your profile, you must inform JeBenevole.ca.

You agree to supply accurate information corresponding to your current situation. You also agree to maintain such information up to date.

You also agree not to create a false identity with the intention of misleading others.

JeBenevole.ca agrees to protect the privacy and security of your private data, in conformance with the privacy policy.

The platform may contain links to third-party websites, mobile apps or services of other types.  These links are provided solely as a reference and not as an endorsement by JeBenevole.ca. The FCABQ is not responsible for the content of third-party sites, apps or services and does not make any representations regarding the content or accuracy of such materials. If you decide to access third-party sites, apps or services, you do so at your own risk and these terms of use no longer apply.

Responsibilities of JeBenevole.ca

Under normal circumstances, the platform is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week, except during scheduled or unscheduled interruptions due to maintenance or in the event of force majeure. Insofar as we are bound to perform our services on the basis of a best-efforts obligation, JeBenevole.ca assumes no liability for damages of any kind resulting from the unavailability of the platform.

JeBenevole.ca shall use all reasonable means available to provide quality access to our users, without being bound by any obligation to achieve such result.

Moreover, JeBenevole.ca assumes no liability for any dysfunction affecting the network or the servers, or any other event deemed to be beyond the platform’s reasonable control, preventing or impairing user access.

JeBenevole.ca reserves the right to temporarily interrupt, suspend or modify access to all or part of its platform, without prior notice, for maintenance purposes or for any other reason, without liability or compensation to you.
